FunnyPlaying Game Boy Advance SP shells. These shells are a massive step up in build and quality from the old aftermarket SP shells.

They are manufactured from a mould designed exclusively by FunnyPlaying. The build is high quality IBS plastic and pre moulded to fit many IPS screens. This means that this shell does not need cutting to fit the New Laminated GBA SP screens that we recommend.

The screws have been adjusted to be just 2 different lengths, all with Phillips heads. (The older screws were varying lengths that was complicated and time consuming to figure out which screw went where)

With the clear shells you can blank off the underside of the screen with a slice / blank plate for that truly professional feel. Slices are available here.

Upgrade the old battery to a massive 950 mAh rechargeable battery here.

Also consider upgrading the old power port to have USBC battery recharging and audio out function. This mod can be found here.

Shell is very high quality and has a nice glossy finish. Have purchased multiple FP shells from Retro gaming now

Description: Works as intended, Easy to install
Good Quality, Smooth feel

Shell is of good quality with a smooth gloss feeling texture.
Basically, no complaints on the fit and finish
Most parts included, though you still need you own shoulder buttons, power/volume slider and hinges which is standard for these kits.
Only using two different length screw is definitely a benefit.
I have an aftermarket battery from another retailer and the battery door bulges slightly, but nothing to be worried about.

Not their best

I absolutely love Funnyplayings Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance shells. They make them easy to use with their IPS screens and have a good feel to them. They even include some of the “Nintendo” details other 3rd party shell makers avoid or miss.
The GBA SP is a miss though. Hinge covers were flimsy, the clamshell rubber bits were a weird, smaller size and the screws were mostly different (where in other cases they tend to use the same type of screw).
Disappointed but hopefully future releases will get better.
